Aviation

Wow, we have been busy recently. This session Austin took an Aviation class in our co-op. The ladies who taught it did a great job, they even scheduled a free trip for the boys to fly.

So last Saturday morning we woke up early and braved the cold weather to go flying. It was a beautiful morning.

The flights were donated by pilots who volunteer their time, planes, and fuel for part of the Young Eagles program. Austin flew in a Cessna with just himself and the pilot. In case you don't remember, Austin is the one who was terrified to fly. When he first started the class he said he was not going to fly, but after the trip to MD he loves it. He also received a log book with this being his first flight to log. He can hold on to it and work toward getting his pilot's license. Not sure if we will go that far, but you never know.

They had a simulator

and a large hanger with planes that you can buy (a little out of our range)

Taking off...he said that he got to handle the controls for a few moments. They were in the air about 20-25 minutes.

Safe landing :-)

  1. Wow! What a cool experience! I bet that class was the hit of co-op! And, come on--you can't just pick up a plane? :-)
