Getting old(er)

This was a fun weekend, well mostly. My birthday was Friday, we went out to eat and even splurged on a Carvel birthday cake (yummy).

Matthew had his playoff football game Saturday, they lost 6-0. He is disappointed the season is over. Austin has one more week (I think) and then his season will be over. I LOVE watching them play football, but I admit that I am ready for a break.

Saturday night we went trick-or-treating with our neighbors. There were probably about 8-10 kids and 5 or 6 of us parents. It was misting rain and many smart parents chose to drive their children around. We opted to walk. We live in very back of our neighborhood, which I love. The only thing is; we are a mile from the entrance, more when you add side streets. We were brave this year, we went for the whole thing. One of the parents started feeling sorry for the young ones and decided to go back and get a vehicle to haul the kids back in. Wait a minute, wasn't this for them, why do they get the ride? Well, to be honest he did drop the kids and come back for some of us parents. For some foolish we reason we declined. By the time we got back I realized I am not as young as I used to be. This was not an ordinary walk mind you. It was stop, go, back track, huddle against the wind, every house stop type of walk. I needed rest.

Then my wisdom jumped in to help me more. I had painted three walls in our living room this summer. Yes, only three. The fourth wall was behind our very large entertainment center and continued to run over the stairs which meant a very high wall. I opted to leave that wall as an accent wall. However, I knew I really wanted it painted. So this weekend I mentioned this, and lo and behold Daddy had me up early Sunday to start painting. I was volunteered to do the trim work, which meant a lot of up and down. Daddy was on the ladder and I was handing him things, more up and down.

The painting coupled with my Halloween exercise (I didn't even get any candy) has made me very sore and tired. I think I need a vacation...
Oh, our living room does look much better now. I am sure in a few days I will truly appreciate it.

  1. I'm so with you! Yesterday at my Shadowbrook visit, I overheard one old lady compliment another old lady on her hairdo. The old lady with the do said, "Thank you! That's the only part of me that doesn't hurt!" That's how I feel sometimes, although I'm fighting with all this gray hair now, so actually my hair even hurts! :-)

  2. lol...I always said I would not color my hair. Of course, that was before I went gray (nearly 25%), now I color and try to remember the good'ol days.
