Renewal of spirit

I usually think of Spring as a time for renewal. Every things seems to be fresh and alive. Time for spring cleaning, throwing out the old and starting new. For some reason however, I feel that way this week. Well, maybe not the cleaning part but like things are about to change.

I feel very optimistic and positive. It has been a good week with the kids and school. I am finally starting to see some of the changes I have been looking for. More responsibility and independence. At least to the point in which they realize that school is a part of life and they are resigned accepting it. They are asking what needs to be done for the day and are doing it. Yay!

The phone has rang a few times for Paul this week. No offers yet, but the increase in activity is at the very least making it easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We know that he will get a job again, the question has just been when (and where and how much). :-)

Today is also my birthday. I do not really think this has anything to do with my mood though. I admit that once I left my thirties, I have wanted to boycott birthdays. So far it is not working.

Matthew's birthday is next month, right before Thanksgiving. Ahh, maybe that is also it. Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays and we are fast approaching that season. Though I may not know the exact reason, I give thanks to God for his presence and the "new attitude".

  1. I'm so glad you have had such a good, positive week! I like your attitude, and it is inspiring. I love Christmas and Thanksgiving, but I always view their approach with a groan. There is so much to cram into the season, and it is such hard work. But if I focus instead on the gratitude of Thanksgiving and The Gift of Christmas, it really puts things into perspective. Happy birthday!!
