Week 4 RTR

Well, just as we were starting to get into a routine we hit a snag so to speak. Daddy called us Tuesday morning to inform us that he was on his way home for an extended vacation... Yes, he was part of the latest round of lay-offs. :-(

I can say that his job was very stressful and something that he did not enjoy at all. So, we are praying that God will open a better door. Until that time, we will be clipping (even more) coupons and enjoying (even more) home-cooked meals. I am blessed in the fact that my husband is an excellent cook.

As for school this week...we have been learning more about Ancient Rome and the demise of Cicero, along with Cleopatra and Antony. Rome was not a nice place to be during this time. We have also realized that Apostle Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament.

Our Math and English are progressing. I am very proud of Austin, he seems to have turned a corner with Math and is doing very well so far. We are starting Chapter 3 in his book, and he has passed both previous chapter tests with a high B and an A. English is not as much fun, but then it was never my best subject.

Matthew is flying along in Math as usual. He is almost finished with chapter 2., he is one grade ahead in Math. I cannot say the same for English. I am hoping this is not because of my lack of love for the subject. I will have to try to be more enthusiastic. (thank goodness for spell check) :-)

For Science, we studied the five senses and did some experiments in that. The boys also started to put body parts on their "wall models".

Of course, with all this school (and job hunting) we must have some fun time. Football practice four nights a week...well, to Austin this is FUN - to Matthew it is...good.

I think park day was more fun. The kids were able to just play (rode bikes, played basketball, played in the creek) and us moms just talked. Unfortunately I did not get pictures of everyone else. The camera was forgotten once the others arrived and we started talking.

We also noticed this lovely spider near the front steps. Actually we have been noticing MANY webs around the bushes in the yard, but this is the first time we saw the spider. I am not a spider fan by any means, and therefore had to Google to find out that this one is nice. That is good, as long as it stays outside.

There is nothing more fun than playing with water. Well, except for building things and playing in the water. I have no idea what this is/was, the kids next door came over and helped. Late summer days...nice.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's job and will pray for peace as you wait to see what the future holds!

Looks like you're doing great with school! We're about to study anatomy; I think we may do "wall bodies" too. :)

We have one of those spiders right outside our kitchen window. As long as the screen and window pane is between us, I'm OK! ;)
